Dogmatic Theologians (based on Scheeben) · 1845–1920

Joseph Wilhelm, D.D., Ph.D. (1845–1920) and Thomas B. Scannell, D.D. (1854–1917) produced A Manual of Catholic Theology, Based on Scheeben’s “Dogmatik” — a two-volume condensation of Matthias Joseph Scheeben’s monumental German Handbuch der katholischen Dogmatik. First published in 1890 and revised in a third edition in 1906, their manual draws out the organic unity and interconnection of the mysteries in a way that complements the thesis method of Pohle-Preuss.
