Precepts of Faith, Knowledge, and Understanding

The precept of faith-the command to believe in the articles of faith-is given perfectly in the New Law. In the Old Law, the precept of faith is presupposed; it is understood in general, and not expressed in specific and detailed terms.

The Old Law contains precepts of knowledge and understanding with reference to man’s end. These precepts are more clearly and perfectly set forth in the New Law.
