The Precepts of Fortitude

All divine laws which direct man towards heaven areprecepts of fortitude inasmuch as the way to heaven is beset withtemptations and dangers that a man must steadfastly overcome.

The virtues annexed to fortitude-patience,perseverance, magnanimity, constancy-involve laws of virtuousprocedure in the face of hardships and perils, and are thusprecepts of fortitude.
