Folly

  1. Folly is the opposite of wisdom. Folly is thecontrary of wisdom, whereas fatuity is the sheerabsence of wisdom.

  2. Folly is dullness in judging, especially in mattersthat relate to God and the good of the soul. When folly resultsfrom inordinate love and use of earthly things, it is a sin.

  3. Since a man’s sense is plunged into earthly thingsby lust more than by any other vice, folly is called “thedaughter of lust.”
